Creating
VCD movies is fun and a wonderful experience. Watching your favorite artists on
your tiny PC monitor is nothing to compare with watching them on your big TV
screen.
But a VCD
movie is not limited to just Hollywood Celebrities; you too can make a VCD movie
of your own pics and with your own music. With simple-to-use and free tools it
is a piece of cake!
If you
have read my previous articles in “VCD series” then you must be familiar with
terms like encoding, mpeg formats and burning. If not then it is time to take a
look at those articles in order to have a clear mind about what you are going to
do. However, it is not a requirement; with the help of this step by step
tutorial you will be able to create a VCD of your pics even if you are not
familiar with encoding and burning stuff.
As I have
said before, there are many different programs which can do the same job for
you. So you can always search the net for them and experiment with different
programs but here in this tutorial I will assume that you have Ulead DVD Picture
Show. You can download the trial version from
Ulead’s site.
After
downloading and installing the program, open it. The following window will
welcome you:

Here you have to choose what format you are intending to proceed with. As you
can read in the information paragraph, you can create a CD with 1900 images and
up to 99 slide shows. Quite many eh?
We will,
as you may have realized by now, choose VCD2.O and click Next.
In the next window you will be given a chance to add a slide show.
Click “Add a Slide show” and the DVD Picture show will open a new window where
you can browse you hard drive for your pics.
You should see a window like the one below:

Open the folder where you have saved your pics and the program will list all the
pics inside the folder for you.
Now you just have to double click a pic to add it to your slide show and it will
end up in the rectangular area at the bottom of the window.
After you
have added all your pics to your first slide show, you can give your slide show
a title and put background music to it by clicking respectively “Slide show
title” and “Background music” buttons. Still on the
same window, you can set delay time and arrange your pics in the order you want
them to appear in the slide show.
By clicking the play button you can preview your slide show and make
changes if you are not satisfied.
Click “Done”
when you are done.
